How to read a coffee label
Origin
The country and region tell you where the coffee was grown. More specific origin information can help explain recurring flavor patterns.
Variety
Typica, Catimor, Catuai, SL28 and SL34 are different coffee varieties with their own agronomic and sensory tendencies.
Process
Washed, natural and sugarcane-decaf processing influence sweetness, fruit expression, body and clarity before roasting.
Roast
Light roasts tend to preserve more origin-driven aromatics and acidity; medium roasts usually emphasize more sweetness, body and roast development.
Flavor notes
Notes such as jasmine, apricot, chocolate or caramel describe sensory resemblance. They are not added flavorings.
Brew fit
A recommended method is a useful starting point, not a rule. Grind size, ratio and water can be adjusted to suit your taste.
