What You Need
Jar or brewer with lid · 60 g coffee beans · Grinder · Scale · 750 g cold drinking water · Stirrer · Fine sieve or coffee filter · Serving glass
Step-by-Step Recipe
1. Grind
Grind 60 g of coffee coarse, similar to coarse sea salt. A very fine grind makes filtration harder and can produce a muddy, heavy cup.

2. Combine
Add the coffee to the brewing vessel and pour in 750 g of cold drinking water. Stir gently until all grounds are wet.
3. Cover and Refrigerate
Cover the vessel and steep in the refrigerator for 12–16 hours. A useful first target is about 14 hours.
4. Filter
Strain the coffee carefully. If the first filtration leaves a lot of fine sediment, pass the brew through a paper filter for a cleaner cup.
5. Stir and Taste
Stir the filtered cold brew before tasting. This recipe is intended as a ready-to-drink starting point rather than a strong concentrate.
6. Serve Cold
Serve chilled or over ice. If the cup tastes balanced but stronger than you prefer, dilute the finished brew with cold water rather than changing multiple brew variables at once.
What You’re Looking For
Look for a smooth, sweet and refreshing cup with clear flavor, moderate body and low harshness. Cold brew should taste clean rather than muddy or aggressively bitter.
Adjust Your Brew
The cold brew tastes thin or weak → Steep a little longer, up to 16 hours, or grind slightly finer next time.
The cold brew tastes bitter, woody or heavy → Shorten the steep or grind coarser.
The brew has too much sediment → Grind coarser and use a finer final filter.
The cup tastes balanced but too strong → Dilute the finished brew with cold water to taste.
The cup tastes flat → Use fresher coffee and shorten storage time after filtering.
Change one variable at a time.
